Biography

Did You Know: Matt Hanna[apos]s father (Mike) was an All-American attackman at Hobart in 1968 and an assistant lacrosse coach at Johns Hopkins in 1972 under legendary coach Bob Scott.

This Season: Co-captain • One of just two senior midfielders on the team • Likely to hold down a spot on one of Hopkins[apos] top midfield units • Being counted on to provide leadership to what may be the youngest team in the nation.

Statistically Speaking: Became the first Johns Hopkins player to register a multi-goal game in his Blue Jay debut since Dudley Dixon tallied three goals against Princeton in the 1997 season-opener.

2001: Played in all 12 games with eight starts • Co-recipient of the JHU Coaches Most Improved Player Award • Finished the season with eight goals and one assist for nine points • Enjoyed the most productive game of his career against Navy as he scored three goals and added one assist in the win • His second goal of the game with 5:13 remaining in the third quarter gave Hopkins the lead for good at 9-8 • Added one goal in the win over Towson and another in the NCAA Quarterfinals against Notre Dame • Enjoyed an impressive debut for the Blue Jays as he scored a team-high two goals in the season-opener against Princeton • Was the only midfielder to register a point for the Blue Jays against the Tigers.

At Loyola: Played two years • Tallied six goals and one assist • Scored five goals during the 1999 season when the `Hounds were ranked number one in the nation for most of the regular season.

At Geneva: Three-sport standout who excelled in football, basketball, and lacrosse • Three-time All-League selection in football and lacrosse and an All-State pick in football • Led lacrosse team to sectional title in 1997 and participated in the Empire State Games in lacrosse.
