Biography

2008: Played in three games and scored one goal • Tallied lone goal - the first of his career - in a 16-7 win over Towson.

2007: Reserve attackman who saw action in two games on the year • Got first career playing time in a 15-6 win at UMBC and later appeared in a 15-3 win at Mount St. Mary[apos]s • Registered one shot on the year.

At St. Paul[apos]s: Two-year letter winner in lacrosse and a three-year letter winner in football • Scored 45 goals and added 12 assists as a junior and added 50 goals and 20 assists as a senior • Led the team in scoring as a senior, when he helped team to the MIAA Quarterfinals • Played linebacker, wide receiver and quarterback in football • Garnered all-county, all-metro, all-conference and all-state honors • Threw 20 touchdown passes against just two interceptions.

Matthews • The son of Les and Julie Matthews • Born July 15, 1987 • Younger brother of former Blue Jay goalie Nolan Matthews and older brother of current Blue Jay defenseman Scott Matthews • Father, Les, was a two-sport athlete at Johns Hopkins (football, lacrosse) and twice earned First Team All-America honors in lacrosse • Political science major.
