Michael Vann

Michael Vann returns for his eighth season with the Johns Hopkins men's tennis team in 2018-19. He came to the Homewood campus after servings as the head coach at nearby Goucher College for seven seasons.

Since Vann came to Homewood, Hopkins has gone 131-34 (.794), including 62-1 (.984) in Centennial Conference matches. The Blue Jays have won seven Centennial Conference Championships and made the NCAA Tournament every year. JHU has made the NCAA Sweet 16 six times and has advanced to the quarterfinals three times. IN addition, JHU has sent eight singles players and five doubles teams to the NCAA Championship. 

During his tenure, Hopkins has produced 39 All-Centennial Conference (CC) selections (21 singles, 18 doubles), three CC Players of the Year and one CC Rookie of the Year. JHU has also produced 28 ITA All-Americans (11 singles, 17 doubles) and seven ITA Southeast Regional Champions (2 singles, 5 doubles).

Prior to joining Goucher’s staff, Vann was an assistant coach on the nationally ranked Division III men’s and women’s teams at Kenyon College. He also had coached at Bucknell University and the University of Alabama, his alma mater.
