HOPKINS WATER POLO RANKED FIFTH
BALTIMORE, MD -- The Johns Hopkins Men's Water Polo team fell two spots to fifth place in the latest Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Top 10 poll released on September 6. JHU received 30 points overall, down seven points from the team's preseason total of 37 and third place spot.
The Blue Jays are 2-2 overall after splitting four contests at the Navy Invitational on September 2-3. At the event, Hopkins defeated Boston College 8-7 and fell to Division I #13 Queens College, 14-8, on Saturday. In Sunday action, JHU fell to then 12th-ranked St. Francis 15-10, but rebounded against Division III No. 6 MIT, 11-9.
Sophomore Ryan Ford (Almaden, CA/Leland) leads all Hopkins scorers with 14 goals, followed by senior All-American Zaman Mirzadeh (Davis, CA/Davis) who has 11, and freshman Geoffrey McCann (Menlo Park, CA/St. Francis) who is in third with seven goals.
JHU travels to Princeton this weekend for the Princeton Invitational, that will be held September 9-10. Scheduled to face the Blue Jays on Saturday will be CWPA Southern Division foe Salem-Teikyo at 12:00 noon, 13th-ranked Queens College at 4:00 p.m., and #17 St. Francis at 9:00 p.m. On Sunday, Hopkins takes to the water to battle another Southern Division rival in Bucknell at 10:00 a.m.
