San Antonio, TX - Steve Adams (Butler, PA/Butler) scored 24 points and grabbed a career-high 19 rebounds to lead the Johns Hopkins men's basketball team to a 92-86 win over Roanoke College Sunday in the consolation game of the Trinity Tournament.
Adams, who also scored a team-high 19 points in an 81-69 loss to Otterbein Saturday, was named to the all-tournament team for his performances this weekend. The junior forward was one of five Blue Jays to score in double figures Sunday, as Dan Burruss (Glenn Dale, MD/DeMatha) and Brian Cosgrove (Baltimore, MD/Loyola Blakefield) each had 14, Brendan Kamm (Avon, NJ/Somerville) added 13, and Matt Righter (Clarion, PA/Lawrenceville Prep) came off the bench to score a career-high 10 points.
Kevin Marquez (Oakton, VA/Oakton) also had a strong game, as he scored nine points by hitting all three of his three-point attempts. Junior forward Mike Blaine (Washington, DC/Bishop Ireton) added five points and four rebounds for Hopkins, which broke a two-game losing streak and improved to 2-3 on the season. The Blue Jays also tied team records by hitting 35 of 47 shots from the foul line.
Robby Pridgen led Roanoke with 22 points and Kenny Harrell added 20 for the Maroons, which had four players foul out.
Hopkins will return to action Thursday when the Blue Jays travel to Elizabethtown for a 7:30 p.m. game.
