Carlisle, PA - Kendra Shirley scored off a pass from Jessica Sedgwick with just 1:30 remaining in the game to give Dickinson College a 1-0 win over Johns Hopkins in field hockey action on Saturday afternoon.
Despite holding a 15-2 shot advantage and a 13-3 advantage in penalty corners, the Red Devils could not score until late in the contest on Blue Jay goalkeeper Missi Schafhauser (Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights), who registered nine saves. Midfielder Maura Dudley (Westborough, MA/Mestborough) also had a defensive save in the game.
Ashley Robbins (Newtown Square, PA/Westtown School) had both shots for Hopkins, which lost its fifth straight contest. The Blue Jays have now lost two straight Centennial Conference games after winning 17 in a row.
Hopkins will look to get back on track on Thursday when the Blue Jays travel to non-conference opponent Catholic for a 4:30 p.m. game.
