Johns Hopkins Rolls Past Ursinus, 5-0

COLLEGEVILLE, PA - Senior forward Kacey Foster (East Northport, NY/Northport) and sophomore forward Aline Bernard (Nashville, TN/Hume Fogg) each scored two goals in a five-goal second half as Johns Hopkins topped Ursinus College, 5-0 in Centennial Conference today in Collegeville, Pennsylvania. The Blue Jays improved to 7-1-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the Centennial, while the Bears fell to 2-6-2 overall and 1-4 in conference play.

Senior sweeper Yquem Roman (Monroe, NJ/Monroe Township) got Hopkins started with her first goal of the year on a penalty shot in the 49th minute. Foster followed with her first goal of the game in the 51st minute off a feed from junior midfielder Jill Minger (Durham, OR/St. Mary's). Foster scored her second goal of the game and fifth of the season on an assist from freshman forward Jen Baldwin (Medway, MA/Medway) with 21 minutes to play to give JHU a 3-0 lead.

Bernard's first goal of the day off a corner kick put Hopkins up 4-0 in the 79th minute. She added her second goal in the 88th minute on an assist from junior midfielder Alicia Atwood (Kingwood, TX/Kingwood) to cap the scoring.

Junior goaltender Shannon O'Malley (Greenlawn, NY/Long Island Lutheran) recorded her fourth shutout off the season, making four saves for the Blue Jays. Erin Cantwell made nine saves and Cara Goldberg added 10 saves for Ursinus.

The Blue Jays return home to face defending National Champion and No. 1-ranked College of New Jersey on Wednesday, October 3 at 4:00 p.m. The Lions defeated JHU last year, 1-0 in Ewing, New Jersey.
