Hopkins Falls to Dickinson, 1-0 in Centennial Action

CARLISLE, PA - Dickinson forward Alyssa Carlow broke a scoreless tie in the 56th minute to give the Red Devils a 1-0 win over the Johns Hopkins women's soccer team in Centennial Conference action Wednesday evening. Hopkins, which fell to 0-2 in conference play for the first time in school history, is now 4-4-1 on the season. Dickinson improved to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the Centennial.

The Blue Jays held a 10-7 advantage on shots and a 6-2 margin on corner kicks, but could not find the back of the net. Dickinson goalie Alanna Schechtman recorded seven saves as JHU was shutout in consecutive Centennial games for the first time since the 1999 season.

Senior Shannon O'Malley (Greenlawn, NY/Long Island Lutheran) stopped six shots for Hopkins and became the second player in school history with over 200 career saves. She currently has 205 and needs 47 to break the JHU record of 251 set by Kate Cushman ('96-'99).

The Blue Jays look to rebound Saturday as JHU hosts Centennial Conference foe Muhlenberg at 7:00 p.m. Hopkins has lost two straight games to the Mules in a series that is tied 5-5-1.
