COLLEGEVILLE, PA - The Johns Hopkins women's soccer team was victorious, 3-1, over Ursinus on Saturday in Collegeville, Pennsylvania. Freshman defender Lindsey Kimura (Los Angelas, CA/Harvard-Westlake) netted the game-winner at the 73:04 mark on an assist from freshman Jessica McKenzie (Morristown, NJ/Morristown). The Blue Jays improve to 2-1 in the conference and 8-3-1 overall.
The goal was Kimura's second of the season. Sophomore forward Meg McIntosh (Los Angelas, Brentwood) added some insurance for JHU with her third goal of the season at the 89:43 mark. Freshman Sarah Lombardi (Manchester, CT/Loomis Chaffee) assisted on McIntosh's tally.
Hopkins jumped out to an early lead when freshman forward Lauren Baumann (Milford, MI/Greenmills School) scored at 14:44 on a pass from senior midfielder Erinn Sosa (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta), who now has a team-high six assists. Junior forward Aubrey Andre (Shrewsbury, MA/Shrewsbury) scored on an assist from senior midfielder Krista Smith at 67:31 to tie the game at one for the Bears.
Jen Goebel (Jericho, NY/Jericho) and Annie Adamczyk Georgetown, MA/Governor Dummer) combined to make six saves in net for the Blue Jays. Both teams had many offensive opportunities as JHU out-shot Ursinus 14-12.
Up next for Hopkins is a home conference match against Washington College on Wednesday, October 8 at 4:00 p.m.
