BALTIMORE, MD - The #7 Johns Hopkins field hockey team wrapped up its regular season with a 9-0 win over visiting Bryn Mawr on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Jays improve to 13-4 overall and 9-1 in the Centennial Conference. The Owls conclude their season at 2-12 overall and 0-10 in the conference. Junior Emily Miller (Garden City, NY/Garden City) led the way for Hopkins with a hat trick.

Miller put the Blue Jays on the board early when she tapped in a pass from junior Adair Landy (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) just 3:18 in. Sophomore Chantal Serle (Columbus, OH/Columbus Academy) extended Hopkins lead less than two minutes later when she scored on a hard shot off senior Lucy Webster's (Greenwich, CT/Deerfield Academy) penalty corner.

Sophomore Gabi Henn (Lambertville, NJ/South Hunterdon Regional) made it 3-0 with her ninth of the season, when she banged home a loose ball in front of the Bryn Mawr cage at 10:18. Senior Sarah Bender (Mattapoisett, MA/Tabor Academy) pushed the Blue Jays lead to four with her first of the season at 22:19, knocking home her own rebound.

Henn quickly put Hopkins on the board to start the second, when she scored her second of the day just 2:09 in. Miller found the cage for the second time in the game, scoring just three minutes after Henn's strike, making it a 6-0 game. Just over a minute later, Miller completed her second hat trick of the season, scoring off an assist from sophomore Brittany Bland (Littleton, CO/Colorado Academy).

Junior Leah Horton (Wayne, PA/Upper Merion Area) scored her fifth of the season just 14 seconds later and Hopkins held an 8-0 lead. Freshman Sarah Jacobs (Denver, CO/Kent Denver Englewood) scored her first career goal with just over 13 minutes to play to make the score 9-0.

Sophomore goalie Sophia Tieu (Cupertino, CA/Cupertino) finished with one save to earn her fourth shutout of the season. Caitlin Evans finished with nine saves for Bryn Mawr. Hopkins had the edge in shots (31-2) and penalty corners (21-0). Miller now ranks third in program history with 85 career points and fourth with 36 career goals.

Hopkins returns to action on Saturday at the Centennial Conference Championships. The second-seeded Blue Jays will take on the third-seeded Muhlenberg Mules in the semifinals. Hopkins is seeking its fifth Centennial Conference title (1993, 1999, 2000, 2003). Game times will be announced on Monday.
