BRYN MAWR, Pa. - The Johns Hopkins Women's soccer team clinched a spot in the Centennial Conference Tournament on Saturday with its 5-3 win over Bryn Mawr. The Blue Jays rise to 13-0-03 (8-0-0 CC), while the Owls slump to 4-11-1 (0-9 CC) on the season.
Sophomore Rhiannon Desideri notched her first goal of the season in the 23rd minute to put Hopkins on the board. Sophomore Erin Stafford followed with another score in the 35th minute off an Allie Zazzali pass.
Laura Costanzo broke the ice for Bryn Mawr with a goal at 52:49 before senior Molly Steele knocked on past the Owls' keeper at 61:56 for her third goal of the season.
Senior Francesca Peretti was the next to score at 65:44 for her first goal of the season.
Bryn Mawr got two shots past freshman goalie Kristen Redsun in the second half at 70:41 and 77:38. Freshman Colleen Quinlan put the final point on the board for Hopkins in the 83rd minute for her second score of the season.
With the 5-3 victory, Hopkins claimed a spot in the conference tournament. Two games in the regular season remain for the Blue Jays. Hopkins will travel to McDaniel on October 28. The contest is set to start at 4 p.m.
