BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins women's soccer team closed out its regular season with a 4-0 victory over visiting Ursinus on a windy Friday night at Homewood Field. The Blue Jays have now won four straight games and have secured the second seed in the Centennial Conference playoffs. Hopkins improves to 15-3-0 (8-2 CC) with the win, while the Bears fall to 10-6-0 (6-4 CC).

Junior Erica Suter knocked in her team-leading 11th goal of the season in the 42nd minute to give Hopkins a 1-0 lead. Freshman Kelly Baker sent in a cross from the flank to the far post, where Suter was in position to head it home for her fourth game-winner of the year.

The score remained 1-0 until the Blue Jays put together a late flurry of goals starting in the 83rd minute to extend their lead to a comfortable margin. Senior Jessica Hnatiuk blasted a free kick from 30 yards out over the outstretched hands of Ursinus freshman goalkeeper Kara DiJoseph to give Hopkins a 2-0 lead with just under eight minutes remaining. The goal was Hnatiuk's second of the year.

Just 1:43 later senior Allie Zazzali tallied her ninth goal of the year to give Hopkins a 3-0 advantage. Senior Sara Tankard ripped a shot that was knocked away by DiJoseph, but senior Erin Stafford collected the rebound and fed Zazzali to push JHU's lead to three.

Hopkins delivered another goal just 28 second later, when junior Paulina Goodman sent a cross to freshman Kelly Baker, who one-timed the feed to the right post to give Hopkins a 4-0 lead with 5:42 remaining.

JHU held the advantage in shots (32-12) and corner kicks (7-1). Sophomore Meredith Maguire played the first half in goal for Hopkins and recorded three saves, while junior Kristen Redsun played the second stanza between the pipes and tallied one save. DiJoseph totaled 13 saves for the Bears in the loss.

The Blue Jays will return to action on Saturday, November 6 as the second seed in the Centennial Conference semifinals hosted by Dickinson, with opponent and game time yet to be determined.
