COLLEGE PARK, MD - The Johns Hopkins men's swim team continued competition at the annual Terp Cup in College Park Friday night and hit five NCAA B qualifying times in the process. Hopkins is in sixth place after two days of competition.
The Blue Jays took fourth place in the 200 Medley Relay to open the night as sophomore Joe Acquaviva, senior Tim Nam, junior Carter Gisriel and sophomore Anthony Lordi finished in 1:32.58, an NCAA B time. Gisriel finished in fifth place in the 100 Fly, as he touched in 50.26 for an NCAA B time. Sophomore Tyler Woods followed with a 24th place finish in the 200 Free with a time of 1:47.30.
Freshman Gideon Hou then took 21st place in the 100 Breast with a time of 59.89. In the 100 Back, Acquaviva placed second in the B Final, 10th overall, with a finals time of 51.27 for an NCAA B time. Freshman Brad Hunt took 20th place overall, clocking in at 53.60. The night concluded with the 800 Free Relay as Hopkins took sixth and eighth place. Junior Nick Schmidt, Lordi, sophomore Will Kimball and freshman Ryan Cunningham combined for a time of 6:52.32 for sixth place and an NCAA B time. The team of junior Dylan Coggin, freshman Aaron Katrikh, sophomore Ben Tillar and Woods swam a time of 6:57.14 to finish in eighth place. In addition, Coggin's split of 1:41.08 in the opening leg of the 200 Free is an NCAA B time.
