BALTIMORE, MD - Hannah Kronick notched her fourth hat trick of the season to power the No. 17 Johns Hopkins women's soccer team past Ursinus, 6-0, Saturday night at Homewood Field.
The sophomore Kronick took sole possession of fourth place all-time in program history in points (79) and goals (33) after tallying three goals and an assist in the victory. The Blue Jays scored all six goals in the first half.
Hopkins dominated possession from the opening whistle and was rewarded for its efforts in the 17th minute as Sydney Teng used a strong piece of skill to break free on the left flank. The sophomore then found Kelly Baker on a low cross, who finished past goalkeeper Kara DiJoseph from 10 yards out.
Kronick then tallied her first goal in the 26th minute to double the Blue Jay lead after knocking home a cross from Baker on the right flank. Less than two minutes later, the pair hooked up for an identical goal to put Hopkins ahead, 3-0.
The first half onslaught continued into the 37th minute when Kronick dished a wall pass to Christina Convey, who beat DiJoseph to the bottom left corner from 20 yards out.
Kronick completed her first half hat trick in the 41st minute after receiving a looping free kick from defender Taylor Schulte and chipping DiJoseph toward the top right corner. Freshman Issy Berkey capped Hopkins' scoring output by placing a header into the back of the net just before the halftime break.
DiJoseph made nine saves, while the Blue Jays' Kelly Leddy made two saves in 78 minutes of action. The home side outshot the Bears, 22-2.
The three-goal effort marked Kronick's fourth hat trick of the season, setting a program-record for career and single-single season hat tricks. Kronick has 14 goals on the season and 31 total points.
