Johns Hopkins Downs Washington College, 9-0

BALTIMORE, MD - The eighth-ranked Johns Hopkins women's tennis team lost a total of just seven games en route to a 9-0 win over visiting Washington College in Centennial Conference action on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays improve to 8-4 overall and 5-0 in the conference, while the Shorewomen slip to 9-3 and 5-2 overall. Junior Nandita Krishnan won her 92nd match of her career, moving her into a tie for fourth in program history.

Sophomore Hailey Hogan and Krishnan put the Blue Jays on top early with an 8-0 win at first doubles over Gabie Batista and Jordan Finnegan. Freshmen Elanie Baik and Stephanie Rettig then won by an identical score as they beat Kelsey Mills and Amy Stevens at third. Sophomore Abby Clark and freshman Shannon Herndon closed out doubles as they defeated Kat Cohen and Campbell McNicol, 8-2, at second.

Krishnan pushed the Blue Jays one point closer to victory with a 6-0, 6-1 win at second singles over McNicol. The win was the 92nd combined (singles and doubles) win of her career, tying her with Tanya Gulnik for fourth in Johns Hopkins history. Junior Andrea Berlinghof then clinched the win as she needed the minimum 12 games to beat Stevens, 6-0, 6-0 at fifth. Hogan was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at first over Finnegan, while Herndon won by the same score over Cohen at third. Clark won at fourth, with a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Batista. And freshman Kaitlyn Coleman won by the same 6-1, 6-0 score over Meghan Tait at sixth.

Hopkins returns to action on Wednesday, April 11 as the McDaniel Green Terror visit Baltimore. The Centennial Conference match is slated for a 4:00 pm start.
