-- Men's Lacrosse Opens Preseason Slate with Ohio State --

Lacrosse in January? You better believe it! Hopkins fans can catch their first glimpse of the 2013 Johns Hopkins lacrosse team as it scrimmages Ohio State Saturday at Homewood Field. Ranked sixth in the nation by Inside Lacrosse, the Blue Jays return four All-Americans, including Tucker Durkin (First Team), Rob Guida (Second Team), John Ranagan (Second Team) and Pierce Bassett (Hon. Mention). Hopkins had a four-game series against the Buckeyes from 1999-2002, winning all four contests.

-- Men's Basketball Looks for Season Sweep of Muhlenberg --

The Blue Jays travel to Allentown, PA for a critical matchup with Muhlenberg Saturday, as both sides have identical 11-7 (7-4 CC) records. Hopkins enters the contest having strung together two straight double-digit victories, including a 63-49 defeat of Washington College on Wednesday. The Blue Jays defeated the Mules earlier this season, 76-74, behind 14 points and three blocks by George Bugarinovic.

-- Women's Basketball Travels to Muhlenberg --

The Hopkins women also travel for a matchup against Muhlenberg, looking to avenge a 49-43 defeat on December 8 in Goldfarb Gym. After rattling off five straight wins, the Blue Jays were upset by Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday night, 51-47. Senior Alex Vassila needs nine rebounds to become the sixth Blue Jays to achieve 800 career rebounds, and is just three points from 900.

-- Wrestling Opens Conference Slate --

Hopkins travels to Lexington, VA Saturday as it opens Centennial Conference competition with a tri-meet against NYU and Washington & Lee. The Blue Jays have wrestled an incredibly tough schedule this season, including matches against Maryland, West Virginia and a number of ranked Division III schools. Paul Bewak leads the charge, currently ranked No. 1 in the nation at 125 pounds.

-- Track & Field to Compete at Penn State Open, Thompson Invitational --

A group of male and female distance runners will be traveling to compete in the Penn State Open in Collegeville, PA Friday and Saturday. Most of the Blue Jays will participate in the Distance Medley Relay on Friday night, while Max Robinson and Lara Shegoski will race in the 5,000 meter run. Runners will compete in a bevy of individual events on Saturday, featuring freshman Hannah Oneda, who will be competing in the 3,000 meter run.

Meanwhile, most of the Hopkins field athletes will be participating in the Thompson Invitational in Newark, Delaware. Included in this mix is junior Emily Swenson, who smashed the Centennial Conference record in the shot put last weekend at the Terrapin Invitational.

-- Philadelphia Invitational Awaits Men's and Women's Fencing --

In their first competition since December 1, the men's and women's fencing teams will each compete against five schools at the Philadelphia Invitational. The women, 8-2 on the season, are scheduled to take on Cornell, Drew, Duke, North Carolina and Sacred Heart. Meanwhile, the men (7-3) will square off against Drew, Duke, Haverford, Penn and Sacred Heart.
