Freshman Will Bellamy joined the Johns Hopkins Athletic Communications staff as a student assistant not long after arriving at Homewood in August. An experienced writer, he will bolster the efforts of the office with a preview of each weekend's events (please note that this is not intended to be an exhaustive in-depth preview of every game or event. Rather, it provides a quick overview for fans with key links and things to look for. Key games, especially those against nationally-ranked teams or those with playoff implacations, will lead the column each week).
Football
The Johns Hopkins football team closes its regular season this weekend with an eye towards the upcoming NCAA Division III Playoffs.
Last weekend, the Blue Jays topped Franklin & Marshall to secure the outright Centennial Conference title, a berth in the playoffs and the 500th win in school history.
This weekend, JHU (9-0, 8-0 in CC play) will take on rival McDaniel with the hope of recording its second undefeated regular season in three years; a victory could also secure a home game in the playoffs as well.
The Green Terror (2-7, 2-6) will look to cap its season with a win over Blue Jays. McDaniel will honor its seniors before the game and kickoff is set for 12:00 at McDaniel.
Volleyball
The Johns Hopkins volleyball team will take on Eastern in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Friday.
The match, which will be played along with three others at Juniata College on Friday, marks the third straight tournament appearance by the Blue Jays. Last year, JHU fell 3-2 to Richard Stockton in the opening round.
Improving upon last year will not be easy. Eastern is ranked 17th in the nation and has won six of the last seven matches in the series. However, the Blue Jays are coming off an impressive run in the Centennial Conference tournament as JHU topped the number four, one and two seeds en route to its third consecutive title.
The Johns Hopkins-Eastern match is set to start at 12:30 p.m.

Cross Country
The Johns Hopkins men's and women's cross country teams will face some of their toughest competition of the year during the NCAA Mideast Regional in Allentown, PA, this Saturday.
Both teams come in on a high note after exhilarating performances in the Centennial Conference championships. The men topped longtime powerhouses Haverford and Dickinson to secure their first Centennial title and, in the process, secured the highest ranking in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Poll in school history (8th in Division III). The top-ranked women fended off several challengers to claim their sixth straight title.
In addition to the other highly-competitive teams from the Centennial Conference, the regional will feature strong teams from Carnegie Mellon and Allegheny (men) and Marywood and Elizabethtown (women).

Women's Soccer
The sixth-ranked Johns Hopkins women's soccer team will welcome Brooklyn College, York and Carnegie Mellon to Homewood Field for an NCAA Regional this weekend as the Blue Jays begin their quest for a national championship.
The tournament, which will be the sixth the Blue Jays have hosted in as many years, will consist of two first-round matches (JHU against Brooklyn College and Carnegie Mellon against York) on Saturday and a match between the winners on Sunday. Whoever wins that final game will advance to Sectionals (Sweet 16) next weekend at a site to be determined.
Carnegie Mellon and York will play first on Saturday at 11:00 a.m., followed by JHU and Brooklyn at 1:30 p.m. Reminder to all fans that there are no free tickets to NCAA events - every fan must purchase a ticket.

Men's & Women's Basketball
The Johns Hopkins men's and women's basketball teams will tip off their seasons with the Blue Jay Invitational and Durgala Memorial Tournaments at Goldfarb Gym this weekend.
The men will take on Moravian on Friday and either Wesley or Mt. St. Mary on Saturday, while the women will see Salisbury on Saturday and either Illinois Wesleyan or Washington & Jefferson on Sunday. Illinois Wesleyan is just two seasons removed from winning the NCAA Division III Championship.
The tournament should give fans a glimpse of what the year will be like for the two teams. Both advanced to the Centennial Conference semifinals and return a number of experienced players this season. You can check out the full men's season preview here and the full women's season preview here.
The men will play their first game at 8:00 p.m. on Friday and the women at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
