BALTIMORE, MD - Johns Hopkins had three different goal scorers, and benefited from an own goal as the team cruised to its seventh straight victory of the season 4-0 against Washington College. The Blue Jays got first half scores from senior Christina Convey ('15) and junior Hannah Kronick ('45), while adding two more scores in the second half from a Washington College own goal ('61) and freshman Vania Ludman ('89).
Convey got things started in the opening half, scoring on a rebound off a deflected cross. The senior forward was able to get the shot over the goalie's head and into the left corner of the net to record her third goal of the season. Late in the first half, Kronick notched her seventh goal of the season after collecting a deflection in the box and burying a shot past the keeper in the middle of the goal. The score marked her third straight game with a goal, and gave Hopkins a 2-0 edge going into halftime.
Hopkins had a few early chances at the start of the second half, but did not score until the 61st minute on a cross from freshman Meg Van de Loo. The ball deflected off a Shorewomen defender at the top of the six-yard box into the back of the net, and the Jays took a 3-0 lead. Ludman recorded her first career goal for Hopkins on a pass from Meg Van de Loo that split two defenders in the 89th minute. Ludman touched the pass onto her right foot and scored in the left corner to give the Blue Jays their final goal of the night.
Johns Hopkins now moves to 7-0 on the season and 1-0 in the Centennial Conference. The Jays will return to action against St. Mary's College for a non-conference road matchup on September 18.
