Freshman Will Bellamy joined the Johns Hopkins Athletic Communications staff as a student assistant not long after arriving at Homewood in August. An experienced writer, he will bolster the efforts of the office with a preview of each weekend's events (please note that this is not intended to be an exhaustive in-depth preview of every game or event. Rather, it provides a quick overview for fans with key links and things to look for. Key games, especially those against nationally-ranked teams or those with playoff implications, will lead the column each week).
Men's Lacrosse
After tough losses to Syracuse and Virginia in recent weeks, the Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse team will have the chance to get back on track this weekend when North Carolina comes to Homewood Field.
Knocking off the fifth-ranked Tar Heels, however, will be no small task. UNC (7-2) boasts the second-best scoring offense in Division I (14.78 goals per game) and has proven itself to be equally adept on defense, routinely containing the nation's elite this season. The attack, particularly Joey Sankey (19 goals) and Jimmy Bitter (16 goals), have been especially troublesome for opposing teams.
The Blue Jays (5-2) will look to their balanced offense and strong play on faceoffs to control possession.
The game is set for 2 pm at Homewood Field.

Women's Lacrosse
The Johns Hopkins women's lacrosse team will head to Nashville, Tennessee, this weekend with the hope of continuing its strong start to the season against Vanderbilt.
The Blue Jays have won their first ten games of the year and were recently ranked ninth in the country by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association. JHU could climb even higher in the rankings and strengthen its position in regard to the NCAA Tournament with a win against the Commodores (3-6).
The Blue Jays will have to stick to what has worked for them all season - spreading the ball around to their numerous scorers and playing airtight defense - if they are to keep their momentum going.
Game time is 1:00 p.m. ET.

Baseball
As is the case with seemingly every season, the Johns Hopkins baseball team has returned from its annual trip to Florida toting a sizable winning streak.
Last year, the Blue Jays caught fire in Florida and ended up winning 20 games in a row during a midseason stretch that earned them an at-large bid in the NCAA tournament. With players like Richie Carbone and Colin McCarthy absolutely dominating at the plate, the Blue Jays may be primed to put together another great run.
The first game of Sunday's doubleheader at Haverford will start at 12:30 p.m. with the second game to follow. Please check HopkinsSports.com for schedule updates due to weather (note the change from Saturday to Sunday already).
