MARYVILLE, TN - The Johns Hopkins men's soccer team got a pair of goals from senior
Kotaro Mitsuhashi and three saves from sophomore
Matt Paris as the Blue Jays shutout the host Maryville Scots, 3-0, Sunday afternoon in the final game of the MC Invitational. Hopkins improves to 1-0-1 on the season while Maryville loses its season opener.
Mitsuhashi got the Blue Jays on the board early, scoring in the 17th minute on a pass from junior Ian Heinrich. The score would remain that way for more than 47 minutes. Mitsuhashi once again did the honors for Hopkins, scoring an unassisted tally in the 64th minute to give Hopkins a two-goal lead. Sophomore Samy Ramadane would close out the scoring in the 80th minute with his first of the season and push the lead to three.
Paris earned the shutout while making three saves for the Jays. Jon Taylor finished with eight saves in the loss for the Scots. Hopkins outshot the hosts, 15-9, and had four corners to Maryville's two.
Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, September 6 as the Blue Jays travel to Reading, PA for the Alvernia Tournament. Hopkins will take on host Alvernia at 1:00 pm.
