BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins' impressive run ended Sunday at top-seeded Dickinson in the Centennial Conference Championship. The host Red Devils beat the fourth-seeded Blue Jays, 4-0, to snap JHU's six-game unbeaten streak. Hopkins finishes the season with an 8-7-6 record while Dickinson improves to 13-0-7.
The conference's top offense wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. Luke Finkielstein took a pass from Nicholas Dwamena, turned, and fired a shot just inside the bottom left corner 40 seconds in. The Red Devils pushed their lead to two in the ninth minute when Timi Omoniwa headed a Westin Fryberger throw-in just under the cross bar.
Dwamena made it 3-0 Dickinson in the 30
th minute as when he struck a low shot from the top left corner of the box that snuck inside the left post. Roan Harrington capped the first-half scoring with a penalty kick goal in the 45
th minute. As it turned out, that would be the game's final goal.
John Ghanem finished with six saves in the loss for the Blue Jays, their first since October 11. Nick Potter made one save to earn the shutout for the Red Devils.
