OWINGS MILLS, MD - The Johns Hopkins women's soccer team shutout Stevenson Wednesday night, 5-0.
Sydney Teng recorded two goals while
Alyssa Morgan tallied a goal and an assist. The win bumps No. 18 Hopkins to 4-2 on the season.
Teng got the scoring going for the Jays in the 25th minute, taking a pass from Hannah Kronick and putting it past the goalie to get the Jays off to an early lead. Minutes later Meg Van de Loo headed in a rebound and put it in the back of the net for her second goal of the year and the second Hopkins goal of the game.
Hopkins wasted no time after halftime, scoring four minutes into the second half with Maryalice McKenna heading in a cross on the back post from Alyssa Morgan for her second goal of the season. Morgan tallied her first goal of the season later in the half on a shot from 25 yards out that floated over the goalkeeper's head. Teng finished the scoring onslaught by adding the fifth goal in the 80th minute, her third of the season.
In goal for the Jays, Sarah Benett turned back four shots and recorded her third win of the season. Hopkins outshot Stevenson 17-7 on the night, including a 9-2 disparity in the second half.
For Stevenson, midfielder Allie Ondrejack led the team with two shots on the night.
Hopkins is back in action Saturday night as they host The College of New Jersey. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Homewood Field.
