Bellamy's Breakdown - Previewing The Weekend (2-13-15)

Feb. 13, 2015 Sophomore Will Bellamy joined the Johns Hopkins Athletic Communications staff as a student assistant not long after arriving at Homewood in August 2013. An experienced writer, he bolsters the efforts of the office with a preview of each weekend's events (please note that this is not intended to be an exhaustive in-depth preview of every game or event. Rather, it provides a quick overview for fans with key links and things to look for. Key games, especially those against nationally-ranked teams or those with playoff implications, will lead the column each week.)

Men's Basketball
The Johns Hopkins men's basketball team will look to win its 18th straight game when it travels to Carlisle, PA, to take on Dickinson on Saturday.
The Blue Jays (20-2, 14-1 in Centennial Conference play) have not lost since late November. The Blue Jays are ranked 10th this week, while the Red Devils are ranked ninth.
Against the Red Devils, they will attempt to keep their momentum alive and tighten their grip on the top seed in the Centennial Conference. However, Dickinson is tied for the second best record in the conference behind JHU (18-4, 11-4) and boasts two of the top scorers in the CC in Gerry Wixted and Brandon Angradi. Wixted is second in the conference with 17.3 points per game and Angradi is seventh with 14.5.
The Blue Jays will likely try to get their own duo of Jimmy Hammer and George Bugarinovic off to a fast start to help counter the scoring prowess of Wixted and Angradi.
Tip off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. ET.

Men's Lacrosse
The Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse team will look to right the ship after a tough loss at Towson earlier this week when it squares off against Villanova on Saturday. The Blue Jays (1-1) started the year on a high note with a 16-4 victory over University of Maryland, Baltimore County, last Saturday, but fell 7-5 to the unranked Tigers several days later.
Against Villanova, JHU will likely continue to rely on attack Ryan Brown to lead the way. Brown is currently third in the nation in goals scored per match with 4.5. The match is slated to start at 1:00 p.m. ET.

Women's Lacrosse
The Johns Hopkins women's lacrosse team will play its first match at Homewood Field this season when Boston College comes to Baltimore on Saturday.
The Blue Jays opened the season with a thrilling 8-7 double overtime victory over Marquette in Houston, Texas, last weekend. JHU employed a balance attack in the win as six different players found the net.
That approach could prove effective against the Eagles, which have yet to play a match this year, but are ranked sixth in Division I.
Saturday's match is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. ET.
