Bellamy's Breakdown - Previewing the Weekend (2-20-15)

Feb. 20, 2015
Sophomore Will Bellamy joined the Johns Hopkins Athletic Communications staff as a student assistant not long after arriving at Homewood in August 2013. An experienced writer, he bolsters the efforts of the office with a preview of each weekend's events (please note that this is not intended to be an exhaustive in-depth preview of every game or event. Rather, it provides a quick overview for fans with key links and things to look for. Key games, especially those against nationally-ranked teams or those with playoff implications, will lead the column each week.)

Men's Basketball
The Johns Hopkins men's basketball team will enter its final game of the regular season on Saturday having already clinched the top seed in the Centennial Conference tournament.
But the Blue Jays (21-3, 15-2 in CC play) will have to be on guard against Washington College, which will miss the postseason, but has proven to be dangerous at times this season. The Shoremen have one of the better scorers in the conference in Dave Knox (14.5 points per game) and will likely bring their best effort in their final game of the year. Hopkins will honor its seniors before the game.
Tip-off at Goldfarb Gymnasium is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.

Women's Basketball
The Johns Hopkins women's basketball team will have little to lose and something to gain when it takes the court against Washington College for its final game of the regular season.
The Blue Jays currently hold the fourth seed in the Centennial Conference tournament, which they cannot lose at this point. Fifth-place Gettysburg trails JHU by two games with only one left in the season.
However, the Blue Jays could move up to the third seed with a win against Washington College on Saturday coupled with a loss by Haverford. In this scenario, teh Blue Jays would earn a bye into the semifinals of next week's Centennial Conference Tournament.
Tip-off is scheduled for1:00 p.m. ET.

Men's Lacrosse
The Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse team will look to make a statement when it faces off against fourth-ranked North Carolina in Chapel Hill on Saturday.
The Tar Heels (3-0) will present one of the toughest challenges of the regular season for the Blue Jays (2-1). UNC has topped its first three opponents of 2015 by an average margin of 11 goals and fields five scorers with at least seven goals so far this season. Jimmy Bitter leads the groups with 10 goals and 17 points overall.
Hopkins counters with a balanced offense of its own that is led by junior Ryan Brown (13g) and senior Wells Stanwick (3g, 8a).
Faceoff it set for 2 pm on Saturday.

Men's Tennis
The Johns Hopkins men's tennis team will spend the weekend in Saint Peter, MN, as it competes in the 2015 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Men's National Team Indoor Championship.
The Blue Jays will square off against teams from Carnegie Mellon, Case Western Reserve, Emory, Gustavus Adolphus, Kenyon, Trinity (TX), and Washington University - St. Louis. Wash U claimed the ITA Indoor title in 2014 and will seek to repeat this time around.
JHU will likely look to sophomore Mike Buxbaum to lead the way. At the 2014 USTA/ITA Southeast Region Championships, Bauxbum secured the singles crown and paired with fellow sophomore Emerson Walsh to win the doubles crown.
The ITA Men's National Team Indoor Championship will run from Friday to Sunday with Hopkins opening against Case Western.
