• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins volleyball team picked up a pair of 3-0 sweeps at Ursinus, first topping the host Bears before defeating Manhattanville in a neutral site match.
How it Happened
• Johns Hopkins earned its fourth sweep in the Centennial Conference, with a dominant victory over Ursinus. The Bears challenged the Blue Jays early, but JHU held off a late run by Ursinus for the 25-22 win in the first set. Hopkins posted 25-13 and 25-15 victories in the final two sets, not only succeeding on offense, but forcing negative hitting percentages by Ursinus in the second and third sets.
• Senior Ally Hirsch led the Blue Jays with nine kills against UC, while Elizabeth Wuerstle added eight kills and two service aces in just one set of play. Esther Hong led the Hopkins defense with 13 digs, while the team combined for 12 block assists in the match.
• The Blue Jays held the momentum early in the match, earning 25-16 and 25-15 wins in the opening two sets against the Valiants. JHU posted its best offensive effort of the day in the first set with a .360 hitting percentage, while it only gave up four kills to Manhattanville in the second set. The teams played a close third set, with Johns Hopkins fighting back from a 19-14 deficit to ultimately win the third set 25-23 and the match over Manhattanville 3-0.
• Louisa Kishton led Hopkins against Manhattanville as the only Blue Jay to record double-digit kills in a match on the day. For the second straight match, Hirsch added nine kills in the three-set win. Kristi Rhead dished out 29 assists and added two service aces in each set.
Inside the Box Score
• A different Blue Jay led the team in kills in each set against Ursinus. Elizabeth Wuerstle recorded eight first-set kills without an error, Michelle Abt and Louisa Kishton each tallied four kills in the second set, and Ally Hirsch made five kills without an error in the final set.
• In addition to setting 33 assists, Kristi Rhead led the team with four block assists against Ursinus,
• Hopkins found its service stroke against Manhattanville, tallying 13 aces, with Rhead serving six aces and Sasha Gorelik and Genevieve Thomas each serving three.
• Freshman Kishton posted double-digit kills for the first time in her career with 13 against Manhattanville, leading the Blue Jays in the match.

• The Blue Jays maintained their perfect 24-0 record against the Bears, picking up their 16th three-set victory over Ursinus.
• Johns Hopkins improves to 6-0 in the Centennial Conference as the only undefeated team.
• JHU has never given up a set to the Valiants. The teams have played one other time in 1988. Hopkins won the match 2-0.
