• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins men's swim team opened the season with a win over host Georgetown and a loss to William & Mary Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays beat the host Hoyas, 180-82, to give head coach Scott Armstrong his first win. Senior Andy Greenhalgh led Hopkins with a pair of wins on the day, claiming the 500 and 1000 Free.

Hopkins' Top Finishers
• Hopkins opened the meet with a second-place finish, by just one-tenth of a second, in the 200 Medley Relay. Junior Peter Conzola, senior Evan Holder and juniors Mark Wilson and Michael Ashmead swam the relay in 1:33.47.
• Senior Andy Greenhalgh followed with the first of his two wins on the day. He beat the field in the 1000 Free by 3.67 seconds and won with a time of 9:27.65. Sophomore Erik Bostrom placed fourth as he touched in 9:53.06.
• The 200 Free saw the Blue Jays claim second through fourth. Holder led the Jays with a time of 1:42.01, missing out on first by just three-hundredths of a second. Sophomore John Chu took third in 1:44.05 and junior Kyle Otazu followed in 1:44.75.
• Sophomore Emile Kuyl placed fifth in the 100 Back with a time of 53.06. Sophomore Peter Lazorchak then won the 100 Breast as he clocked in at 59.37.
• Wilson took fifth in the 200 Fly (1:57.42) and Ashmead did the same in the 50 Free (21.99). Holder followed with a fourth-place showing in the 100 Free with a time of 47.54.
• In the 200 Back, junior Andrew Gibson took sixth place in 1:56.05. Senior Scott Sterrett placed fourth in the 200 Breast in 2:09.76.
• Greenhalgh followed with his second win, touching in 4:34.96 to win the 500 Free by 1.16 seconds. Wilson picked up a second-place finish in the 100 Fly, finishing in 51.77. Holder wrapped up the individual events with a third-place finish in the 200 IM (1:54.39).
• Hopkins closed out the meet with a second-place finish in the 400 Free Relay. Ashmead, Otazu, Chu and senior Patrick Flynn combined for a time of 3:10.58.

What it Means
• Head coach Scott Armstrong earns his first career win at his alma mater with the win over the Hoyas.
• Johns Hopkins is now 2-2 all-time versus Georgetown, evening the series in the first meeting between the two since 1969.
• Today marked the first ever meeting between Hopkins and William & Mary.

Up Next
• Johns Hopkins returns to the pool on October 28 at the annual Thomas Murphy Invitational, hosted by Loyola (MD). The two-day meet is scheduled to begin at 5:00 pm on at the Greyhounds' Mangione Pool.
