BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins' alumni Mark Horning '75 and Mike Leonhardt '84 have been selected to the 2026 College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Division III Hall of Fame Class of 2026. Horning and Leonhardt are the seventh and eighth inductees with ties to Johns Hopkins.

Horning and Leonhardt join Jonanthan Blank '81, Timothy Collins '80, Doug Morgan '81 and Bill Smiddy '79 and head coaches George Kennedy and Tim Welsh in the Hall of Fame. Johns Hopkins' Hall of Fame inductees are the second most of any school in the nation.

This year's Hall of Fame class includes twenty-one distinguished inductees, honored for their remarkable accomplishments and enduring influence on collegiate swimming and diving. The induction ceremony will take place on May 4, 2026, at Joe's Live in Rosemont during the CSCAA Annual Awards Celebration, hosted at the Loews Chicago.

As a senior, Horning became the first triple winner in NCAA Division III history, winning the 100 Butterfly, 200 Butterfly and 200 Individual Medley at the inaugural 1975 NCAA Championships. No stranger to NCAA titles, he won the 100 Backstroke at the 1973 NCAA College Division Championships and finished as runner-up in that same event in 1972 and 1974. Horning dropped a full three seconds in the 200 IM as a senior to win the first of his three NCAA Division III titles.

During his four years at JHU, Horning led the Blue Jays to four top 10 team finishes at the National Championships, culminating with a runner-up team finish in 1975. Additionally, he earned All-America honors 20 times and was a nine-time Middle Atlantic Conference Champion. He led Hopkins to four straight MAC Team Championships and in 1997 he was inducted into the Johns Hopkins University Athletic Hall of Fame.

As a freshman at the 1981 NCAA Division III Championships, Leonhardt established his legacy on the national level winning the 500 and 1650 Freestyles. Overall, he won three individual NCAA titles while earning All-America honors 22 times. He led the Blue Jays to four straight top five finishes at the NCAA Division III Championships, including a runner-up finish in 1981. As a junior he repeated as the 1650 champion, and Leonhardt counts 11 individual event top six finishes among his accomplishments at the national championships.

Leonhardt was a six-time Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Champion and led Johns Hopkins to four consecutive MAC team titles. He set the school record in the 200 Free with a third-place finish at the 1984 NCAA Championship. That record stood for nearly two decades. Leonhardt was inducted into the Johns Hopkins University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000.
