How it Happened
• The teams played a quiet first half with senior Ana Bengoechea finishing a centering pass from Meg Van de Loo in the 36th minute to put the Blue Jays on the board.
• Johns Hopkins recorded seven first-half shots, while Christopher Newport tallied just four, landing only one on cage. Clara Aranguren made the stop in the 44th minute to preserve the 1-0 JHU lead at halftime.
• The Blue Jays came out firing in the second half, scoring in the 48th minute to increase their lead to 2-0. Bengoechea finished another opportunity from Van de Loo as Van de Loo took the initial strike, which CNU goalie Carly Maglio got a hand on, and Bengoechea used her body to knock the ball in from the goal line.
• Van de Loo scored a goal of her own 11 minutes later, extending her goal scoring streak to 16 straight matches. Maggie Coulson sent the ball into the box, where Van de Loo turned and fired the ball for the Blue Jays' third goal.
• The Captains' best chance came in the 73rd minute as the team's leading scorer Victoria Perry took a shot from 20 yards, hitting the crossbar on the chance.
• Van de Loo closed out the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 75th minute. Van de Loo dribbled the ball up the right side of the field, finishing from 15 yards for the goal.
