• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to No. 3 Messiah in the Blue Jays' home opener at Homewood Field.
How it Happened
• Senior Meg Van de Loo tallied the lone Hopkins goal in the 34th minute as she centered the ball and finished with a single strike to the right post, past diving Messiah goalkeeper Sara Yunez.
• The Falcons recorded their first goal in the 68th minute as Kate Shults connected with Marisa Weaver, who scored on an open net after beating goalie Clara Aranguren.
• Weaver beat Aranguren for the second time as she notched an unassisted goal in the 86th minute.

• Meg Van de Loo has tallied a point in every match Johns Hopkins has played this season and is the first Blue Jay with more than one goal on the season.
