• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins women's soccer team opened the 2017 season with a 2-0 win over UW-Stout on a rainy Saturday afternoon at Homewood field.
How it Happened
• The Blue Jays applied pressure early and often, as Kristen Hori and Maggie Coulson each had excellent scoring opportunities that were stopped by Blue Devils goalkeeper, Lynn Johnson.
• In the second half, Coulson converted on a penalty kick at 56:38 to give Hopkins the 1-0 lead.
• Hori would run down the left side and found Maddy Rocks in front of the net, who buried the shot past Johnson at 88:06 to put the Jays up 2-0, as they would hold on for the shutout win.
What it Means
• This was the first meeting between the two teams.
• The goal for Coulson was her sixth career goal, while Rocks netted her first career score.

• Hopkins outshot UW-Stout, 17-1.
• The Jays also held the advantage in corner kicks at 10-4.
