How it Happened
• In what would become a familiar refrain, Hopkins swept all three weapons to open the day with a win over Navy. Senior Brian Huang led the Sabre squad to a 6-3 win as he won both of his bouts. Senior William Snyder won all three of his bouts to lead the Epee squad to a 6-3 win. And in the Foil, sophomore Eashan Gupta and freshman Noah Park combined for six of the squad's eight wins.
• The Blue Jays then grabbed a win over the host Fords. Huang, sophomore Vance Wood and freshman Eryk Kokosinski each won two bouts for the Sabre squad (6-3). Sophomore Neel Maddineni went unbeaten (3-0) to lead the Epee squad to an 8-1 win. Junior Adam Katwan did the same as the Foil squad won 7-2.
• Hopkins followed with a win over William & Mary. Sophomore Jake Desman won his three bouts to lead the Sabre squad to a 7-2 win. Maddineni, junior Jake Joram and freshman Kyle Kennedy each won a pair of bouts as the Epee squad won 7-2. The Sabre squad did not lose a bout as Park, Gupta and Katwan combined for nine wins.
• JHU ended the day with a win over Maryland, losing just three total bouts. For the second straight match, Desman went 3-0 as the Sabre squad won 8-1. Snyder also went 3-0 to lead the Epee squad to a 7-2 win. And in the Sabre, Park, senior Solomon Polansky and freshman Evan Lau each went 3-0.
