• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins men's fencing team won four of its five matches at the NJIT Invitational Sunday to move its record to 17-8 on the season.

How it Happened
• Hopkins opened the day with a 24-3 win over Yeshiva and a sweep of all three weapons by the same 8-1 score. Sophomore Adam Katwan and senior Ian Maddox led the Foil squad as the pair combined to go 6-0. Senior Lyle Poisson also went unbeaten to lead the Epee squad. And in the Sabre, freshmen Jake Desman and Vance Wood each went 3-0 to lead the Blue Jays.
• Hopkins followed with a 22-5 win over Army and another sweep of the three weapons. Junior Solomon Polansky went 3-0 to lead the Foil squad to a 7-2 win. The Epee squad also won by a 7-2 score, with senior Milan Patel leading the way with a 3-0 record. Desman and junior Brian Huang each went unbeaten (3-0) to lead the Sabre team to its second 8-1 win.
• The Blue Jays grabbed wins in the Foil (9-0) and Epee (7-2) to beat the Hunter Hawks, 19-8. Katwan and freshman Eashan Gupta combined to go 6-0 to lead the Foil squad. Poisson and Patel each went 2-1 to lead the way for the Epee squad.
• Hopkins lone loss of the day came to the host NJIT, 17-10. The Blue Jays dropped tough 5-4 decisions in the Epee and Foil before falling 7-2 in the Sabre. Katwan grabbed two wins for the Foil squad, while senior Denis Routkevitch did the same for the Epee squad. Huang and senior Sandy Vingoe each won a bout for the Sabre squad.
• JHU ended the day with a hard-fought 14-13 win over Stevens. Polansky went 3-0 to lead the Foil squad to a 6-3 win. Senior Matthias Philippine did the same in the Epee to lead his team to a 6-3 win. The Sabre squad dropped a 7-2 decision with Wood and Huang each earning a win.

What it Means
• With his second win of the day, in the match versus Yeshiva, junior William Snyder earned his 100th career win. Huang also reached the 100-win mark with his second win of the day, also against Yeshiva.
