• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins volleyball team extended its winning streak to nine with a four-set victory over Washington & Lee on Saturday afternoon at the Eastern Quad Meet.
How it Happened
SET 1
• The Generals opened the match on a 3-0 run, but the Blue Jays put together a 3-0 run of their own to pull even at five.
• The two teams went back-and-forth with seven ties until, with the score 14 all, JHU scored the next two points to take a 16-14 lead and force a W&L timeout.
• Out of the timeout, the Generals tied the match at 16 and went onto take an 18-16 lead. A kill from
Simone Bliss stopped the rally and started a JHU run which put the Blue Jays up 20-18.
• Back-to-back aces from Bliss sealed the set one victory for Hopkins, 25-20.
SET 2
•The Blue Jays pulled ahead 7-4 in the second set which forced the Generals to use an early timeout. Out of the timeout, Hopkins got kills from Bliss and
Eleni Panagopoulos to take a 10-5 lead.
• W&L began to chip away at the Blue Jay lead and a 4-0 run put W&L ahead, 17-16.
• A kill from Bliss off a set from
Nicole Hada tied the set and an attacking error by Washington & Lee put the Blue Jays up 18-17.
• The Generals once again regained the lead thanks to three straight points to go up 20-18, but the Blue Jays tied the match at 21 on a service ace from Hada.
• Hopkins got to set point at 24-22, but the Generals tied the match at 24 and then at 25. The Blue Jays scored the set's final two points to claim the 27-25 win.
SET 3
•The Generals got off to a hot start in the third set, taking a 10-4 lead to force a JHU timeout. Out of the break, the Blue Jays scored the next five points to pull to within one and force W&L to use a timeout.
• Washington & Lee responded with a 7-0 run to take a 17-9 advantage and eventually got its lead to 10 at 20-10.
• Johns Hopkins chipped away and got to within two at 23-21, but the Generals scored the next two points to win the third set, 25-21.Â
SET 4
• After falling behind 5-3 early in the set, JHU scored the next two points to tie the match at five.
• Tied at seven, Hopkins scored seven of the next 10 points to go up 14-10.
• After an attacking error on the Blue Jays to make the score 14-11, JHU went on a 4-2 run to pull ahead 18-13.
• W&L chipped away, but back-to-back kills from Panagopoulos gave Hopkins the 25-18 set win.
What it Means
• The Blue Jays improve to 6-1 against the Generals and have won the last five matches.

Louisa Kishton recorded a double-double as she led the team with 11 kills and 25 digs.

• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins volleyball team capped a perfect Eastern Quad meet with a 3-0 victory over Widener on Saturday afternoon. Hopkins went 3-0 during the tournament, dropping only three sets.
How it Happened
SET 1
• JHU got out to a 13-4 lead in the opening set thanks to a 7-0 run on the serve of
Lauren Anthony.
• The Pride stopped the Hopkins run with a kill from Nicole Dorman and eventually pulled to within seven points at 17-10.
• An ace from
Sarah Khan followed by a kill from
Michelle Abt gave the Blue Jays set point at 24-15, but the Pride scored back-to-back points to make the score 24-17. Abt then recorded a kill for the set one victory.
SET 2
•The two teams stayed close in the second set with neither team being able to pull ahead by more than two points before JHU went on a 3-0 run to go up 12-8.
• The Pride got back to within two at 12-10, however, Hopkins scored seven of the next nine points to take a 19-12 lead.
• Hopkins continued to hold onto the lead and a kill from Abt gave JHU the 25-20 set two win.
SET 3
•Trailing 10-7, the Pride went on a 4-1 run to tie the set at 11. The teams went back-and-forth for the remainder of the set, but W&L was able to take a 22-20 lead, making JHU take a timeout.
• Out of the timeout, the Blue Jays scored the sets final five points as a kill from Bliss capped the 25-22 victory giving Hopkins the 3-0 match win.
What it Means
• This was the first meeting between JHU and the Pride since 2008 and Johns Hopkins leads the all-time series 6-2 having won the last two matches.
Inside the Box Score
• Hada finished with 43 assists, giving her 88 on the day.
• Panagopoulos led Hopkins with 15 kills while Bliss finished with 13.
• Kishton led the way with 10 digs in the match followed by Bliss and Hada who both had seven.  Â
