BALTIMORE, MD –- The Johns Hopkins women's soccer team will host the first and second rounds of the 2019 NCAA Division III Tournament at Homewood Field it was announced on Monday afternoon. The Blue Jays will play Penn State Berks in the first round on Saturday, November 16 with Christopher Newport taking on Worcester State in the other first round game that same day. The games are scheduled for 5 pm (JHU-Penn State Berks) and 7:30 pm (Christopher Newport-Worcester State) with the first round winners to meet on Sunday, November 17 at 7 pm.

How They Got Here/Tournament History
Johns Hopkins (14-2-4) earned the Centennial Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament after topping Haverford (1-0) and top-seeded Dickinson (2-0) in the conference tournament over the weekend. The Blue Jays are making their 18
th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, including their 15
th straight. This is also the fourth consecutive year and the 11
th time in the last 12 years that Johns Hopkins has hosted at least two rounds of the NCAA Tournament.

Penn State Berks (15-6) won its seventh consecutive North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) championship with a 5-0 win over Penn State Harrisburg in the conference title game. This is the Nittany Lions' seventh consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Christopher Newport (15-2-3) earned an at-large bid to the tournament after falling to Mary Washington in the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Semifinals. The Captains are making their 12
th appearance in the NCAA Tournament; all 12 appearances have come since 2000 and this is their fourth straight trip.

Worcester State (11-7-2) grabbed the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference's (MASCAC) automatic bid to the NCAAs with a 1-0 double overtime victory against Bridgewater State in the conference championship game. The Lancers are making their eighth appearance in the tournament.

Johns Hopkins topped Penn State Berks, 4-2, earlier this season and is 2-0 all-time against the Nittany Lions.
Christopher Newport and Worcester State have never met.
Looking ahead to possible second-round matchups, Johns Hopkins is 3-1 all-time against Christopher Newport, including a 4-0 win in the second round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament. Johns Hopkins has never played Worcester State and Penn State Berks and Christopher Newport have also never met.

The last team standing this weekend at Homewood Field will advance to the Sweet 16/Quarterfinal weekend. Those games will be played on November 23
rd and 24
th on the campus of one of the four advancing teams.
