LANCASTER, PA – The Johns Hopkins women's soccer team placed five players on the 2019 All-Centennial Conference Team it was announced Thursday. The Blue Jays placed three on the first team, led by Centennial Conference Player of the Year, Emily Maheras. The Blue Jays also place one each on the second team and the honorable mention team.
 
Hopkins has now produced 147 All-Centennial Conference selections, including 25 in the last five years. Head coach Leo Weil has coached all 147 All-CC honorees. The Blue Jays won their 14th Centennial Conference Championship on Sunday and will host an NCAA Regional this weekend while sporting a 14-2-4 record.

Joining senior Emily Maheras on the first team is sophomore forward Rachel Jackson and junior defender Mizuho Obayashi. Senior Maggie Coulson earned second team honors while fellow senior Carly Lupton-Smith was named to the Honorable Mention team. In addition, sophomore Hannah Lynn was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
 
Maheras becomes the ninth Blue Jay to be named Centennial Player of the Year, and the first since 2016 when Meg Van de Loo earned the honor. Adding to her already outstanding regular season, Maheras scored two goals in the Centennial Conference tournament, earning MVP honors while leading Johns Hopkins to another title. This is the second-straight first team honor for Maheras. The senior has 14 goals and three assists on the year, giving her 27 career goals as a Blue Jay. The Bernardsville, NJ native leads the team with five game-winning goals. 
 
After earning Centennial Rookie of the Year honors in 2018, Jackson was named to the first team, scoring nine goals and picking up two assists in 2019. The sophomore is already making her way up the ranks in the scoring records with 20 career goals.
 
Obayashi garnered first-team honors, helping to lead a Johns Hopkins defense that has allowed just 16 goals in 20 games so far. Obayashi has played in every game this season, starting 19 of them and playing nearly 1,500 minutes.
 
Senior Maggie Coulson adds another honor to her illustrious career resume, earning second team honors in 2019. Coulson is fifth on the team with nine points, scoring three goals and giving out three assists while continuing to be a dominant presence in the midfield. This is Coulson's second career honor after being named to the first team last season. The senior leads all Blue Jays field players in minutes played this season.
 
Finally, Lupton-Smith, an Academic All-America candidate, earns a spot on the Centennial Conference Honorable Mention team, joining Coulson in the midfield as a steady presence. Lupton-Smith scored 2 goals and has started every game this season.
 
The Blue Jays will host an NCAA Tournament Regional this weekend at Homewood Field, welcoming Penn State Berks, Christopher Newport and Worcester State to Baltimore, MD. The Blue Jays will play PSU Berks in the first game on Saturday night at 5 p.m.
