The Short Story: The third-ranked Johns Hopkins men's swim team held off an upset-minded NYU, earning a tight 141-121 win on Saturday afternoon in the Violets' home pool. The Blue Jays won nine of 14 events to pick up the hard-fought victory.

• The Blue Jays kicked things off with first and third-place finishes in the 400 Medley Relay. Sophomores
Dylan Wachenfeld,
Maxwell Chen,
Jeff Vitek and
Noah Corbitt edged NYU by 0.16 seconds to win in 3:24.68. The team of junior
Matt McGough, freshman
Tristan Lin, junior
Nat Davenport and sophomore
Collin Hughes finished in 3:28.08.

CJ Arena then led the Blue Jays with a third-place finish in the 1000 Free in 9:48.82. Freshman
Alec Caswell followed in 9:53.32 for fourth place.
• The Blue Jays followed a sweep of the top three spots in the 200 Free. Corbitt touched first in 1:41.30, followed by freshman
Kyle Wu (1:41.75) and sophomore
Mitchell Simmons (1:44.22).
• Wachenfeld then took second place in the 100 Back with a 52.50, while McGough took fourth in 53.48 and edged out Lin by just one-hundredth of a second.

Brandon Stride placed fourth in the 100 Breast in 59.92 and senior
Jasper Van Cauwelaert placed fifth in 1:01.85.
• Vitek followed with a win in the 200 Fly, beating the field by more than three seconds with a time of 1:52.83. Junior
Noah Frassrand followed in fifth place with a time of 1:59.07.
• Davenport grabbed the top spot in the 50 Free as he touched in 21.53. Chen clocked in at 21.76 for fourth place.
• Corbitt picked up his second individual win of the day, winning the 100 Free in 46.65. Simmons finished in fourth place with a time of 47.84, just three-hundredths of a second out of third.
• Wachenfeld followed with a win in the 200 Back, touching in 1:51.41 to win by more than two seconds. McGough finished in third place as he touched in 1:56.12.
• Lin and Wu then went one-two in the 200 Breast. Lin grabbed the win with a time of 2:06.15 with Wu following in 2:07.28.
• The Blue Jays then took third, fourth and fifth in the 500 Free. Hughes led the way for the Jays as he touched in 4:40.79, followed by Vitek (4:45.35) and Arena (4:46.67). Davenport followed with a second-place finish in the 100 Fly as he finished in 51.74.
• Hopkins grabbed first and second in the 200 IM, picking up crucial points in a close meet. Junior
Marcelo Lauzurique earned the win with a 1:56.66 and Frassrand followed closely in second in 1:56.92.
• JHU then closed out the meet and the win with first and third-place finishes in the 400 Free Relay. Lin, Davenport, Wu and Corbitt combined to win the relay in 3:06.86. Freshman
Spencer Ryan, McGough, Vitek and Simmons swam a 3:10.09 for third.
