The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins men's swim team had five individual and one relay in the finals on day one of the 2019 NCAA Championships. The Blue Jays picked up 67 points and are in fourth place through four events. Â

Top Finishers
• Sophomore
Christopher Arena opened the night with a 13
th place finish in the 500 Free with a career-best time of 4:29.94. He earned Honorable Mention All-America honors with his finish.
• In his first time swimming in the finals of the 200 IM at NCAAs, senior
Emile Kuyl posted a career-best 1:48.53 to finish in fourth. Freshman
Maxwell Chen placed 10
th in the 200 IM with a career-best time of 1:50.03. Kuyl took home First Team All-America honors and Chen earned Honorable Mention honors.

Brandon Fabian and sophomore
Nat Davenport then went 12
th and 13
th in the 50 Free. Fabian finished in 20.45, beating Davenport by just one-hundredth of a second as the duo earned Honorable Mention All-America honors. Davenport's prelim time of 20.37 is a career-best and is tied for ninth fastest in program history.
• Hopkins wrapped up the night with a third-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay. Kuyl, Chen, Fabian and Davenport combined for a 1:28.88 and the team's best finish in the event since 2008. The time is also the fourth fastest in program history and the quartet earned First Team All-America honors.
