BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse team placed two players on the 2019 USILA All-America Team it was announced today.  Senior defenseman Patrick Foley was named to the second team, while freshman attackman Joey Epstein grabbed third team honors.  The pair both previously had been named Honorable Mention Inside Lacrosse All-Americans.
 
The selection to the USILA All-America Team is the second straight for Foley, who was a third team honoree last season; he adds this to an earlier selection this year as a Second Team All-Big Ten performer.
 
Regularly assigned to the opposition's top attackman, Foley started all 16 games this season and totaled one goal, three assists, 32 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers.  He led the team in caused turnovers and was fifth in ground balls.  Foley's 16 caused turnovers this season are tied for the eighth-highest single season total in school history and his 41 career caused turnovers are tied for fourth best in Hopkins history.

Epstein becomes the first freshman at Johns Hopkins to earn USILA All-America honors since Joel Tinney was a third team selection in 2015.  He is also the Blue Jay freshman attackman to earn USILA All-America honors since Steven Boyle was an honorable mention selection in 2007.
 
A First Team All-Big Ten selection and the Big Ten Freshman of the Year, Epstein led the Blue Jays in goals (48), assists (25) and points (73) and tied for the team-lead in extra-man goals (6) as well.  Among freshmen, he led the nation in goals (3.00) and points per game (4.56).
 
Epstein's 48 goals and 73 points are Johns Hopkins records for a freshman.  Overall, his 48 goals are tied for the fifth-highest single-season total in school history, while his 73 points rank seventh.
