Five Blue Jays Earn USILA Scholar All-America Honors

Hopkins Also Earns Team Academic Award

BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse team placed five players on the 2026 USILA Scholar All-America Team it was recently announced.  The five selections mark the fourth consecutive year that Johns Hopkins has had four or more players named and the Blue Jays have now produced 20 USILA Scholar All-Americans over the last four seasons.
 
In addition to the four individuals honored, Johns Hopkins was among the Division I teams honored with the USILA Team Academic Award.  Teams with above a 3.0 cumulative team GPA are honored with this award.
 
To be named to the USILA Scholar All-America Team, players must be nominated by their coach, be a student with a senior year or graduate student academic standing and boast a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 (4.0 scale). He will have behaved in a manner that has brought credit to himself, his institution, and to college lacrosse both on and off the field. He must also be an All-American, a member of a North/South team, or an outstanding league or conference player. Ultimately, final selections are made by the Scholar All-America Committee.
 
Johns Hopkins' five selections include Carson Brown (D), Matt Collison (M), Brooks English (M), Oran Gelinas (G) and Jameson Smith (M).
 
Brown adds USILA Scholar All-America honors to an impressive list 2026 accolades.  A starter in all 16 games on defense for the Blue Jays, he earned honorable mention All-America from the USILA, Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse while also grabbing Second Team All-Big Ten.  Brown was also named the Big Ten All-Sportsmanship Team and was a College Sports Communicator's (CSC) Academic All-District selection as well.  He finished the 2026 season with 42 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers while routinely drawing the assignment of covering the opposition's top attackman.  Brown graduated in May with a degree in economics and is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
 
Collison caps his four-year career at Johns Hopkins as one of the most decorated Blue Jays in recent memory.  A consensus First Team All-American (USILA, Inside Lacrosse, USA Lacrosse) this season, he totaled 30 goals and 16 assists for 46 points as a senior to boost his career totals to 100 goals and 47 assists for 147 points.  He finished career ranked third in points and tied for second in goals among Johns Hopkins players who played primarily midfield during their career.  A three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, Collison was the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-Big Ten selection as a senior and graduated in May with a degree in political science.
 
English graduated in May with a degree in political science.  A member of the 2026 Big Ten All-Tournament Team, he finished the 2026 season with seven goals and a team-high 25 assists for 32 points to rank fifth on the team in scoring.  English has played in 44 games with 33 starts in his career and counts 22 goals and 51 assists for 73 points to his credit; he is also a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.
 
Gelinas enjoyed a standout 2026 season that saw him earn Honorable Mention USILA and USA Lacrosse All-America honors and First Team All-Big Ten while also being named the Big Ten Specialist of the Year.  He played in 14 games with 11 starts this season and posted a 10.18 goals against average and a .525 save percentage while posting 12 or more saves six times this season to finish second in the Big Ten in save percentage.  Gelinas graduated in May with a degree in Psychology.
 
Smith played in 12 games during the 2026 season and totaled seven goals and two assists for nine points; all nine of his points came in the final nine games of the season with two-point efforts in a pair of wins against Michigan and one against Penn State.  Smith has earned Academic All-Big Ten honors three times in his career and graduated in May with a degree in public health.
