BALTIMORE, MD – Raise your hand if you've read this before: "Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse coach
Peter Milliman announced today that defenseman
Quintan Kilrain has been selected in a vote of his teammates to serve as the team's captain."
Â
If you are a fan of the Blue Jays, then you know it was almost exactly a year ago today that Milliman announced that Kilrain was selected as the team's only captain for the 2026 season.
Â
Today, Milliman announced that after a vote of the team, Kilrain will serve as the team's only captain for the 2027 season as well.
Â
Last season, Kilrain became the team's first solo captain since 1989, when
Brendan Kelly served as the team's captain. In addition, he was the first player in program history to serve in that role as a junior and he now becomes the first two-time individual captain in program history.
Â
"The trust and respect that Quintan has earned from his teammates both before and since becoming a captain last year is evident in him being selected to serve in this role again," Milliman stated. "He sets the example in our program as a tireless worker and is not afraid to have difficult conversations and hold each of his teammates accountable to the high standard we have set for the men who are privileged to wear that uniform."
Â
Kilrain has played in 43 games with 39 starts over the last three seasons. He counts four goals, five assists, 78 ground balls and 31 caused turnovers to his credit in his career. He had started 39 consecutive games before suffering a lower leg injury in the Big Ten Semifinals last season; he then missed the Big Ten Championship game and Johns Hopkins two NCAA Tournament games. Still, he had two goals, two assists, 17 ground balls and nine caused turnovers to his credit before missing the final three games of the 2026 season.
Â
A political science major with a minor in business, Kilrain has twice earned Academic All-Big Ten honors and was a member of the United States U-20 Team at 2025 World Championships, where he was named to the All-World Team.
Â
Johns Hopkins will open the 2027 season on Sunday, February 7 when the Blue Jays welcome Drexel to Homewood Field.
