CHAMPIONSGATE, FL – Dave Pietramla, the all-time winningest coach in Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse history, is one of five individuals who have been elected to the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA) Hall of Fame in the Class of 2026 it was recently announced.  The induction ceremony and reception will take place on Friday, December 11, 2026 in Orlando, Florida.
 
Joining Pietramala in the IMLCA Hall of Fame Class of 2026 are Keith Bugbee (Springfield College), J.B. Clarke (active University of Tampa), Jeff Long (Ithaca College) and Erin Quinn (Middlebury College). Mike Waldvogel (Fairfield University), who was elected in 2025 will also be recognized during this year's programming.
 
Pietramala becomes the eighth individual who served as the head coach at Johns Hopkins to earn induction into the IMLCA Hall of Fame as he joins Bob Scott (inducted in 2015 (inaugural class), Henry Ciccarone (2016), Tony Seaman (2016), Howdy Myers (2016), William Schmeisser (2019), Don Zimmerman (2020) and Fred Smith (2023).
 
Pietramala served as the head coach at Johns Hopkins from 2001-2020 and amassed a record of 207-93 with 18 NCAA Tournament appearances, seven trips to the final four (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2015), four appearances in the national championship game (2003, 2005, 2007, 2008) and two national championships (2005, 2007).  He also guided the Blue Jays to a pair of Big Ten Tournament titles (2015, 2018) after Johns Hopkins joined the Big Ten in 2015.  He remains the only person in college lacrosse history to win an NCAA Division I men's lacrosse championship as a player and a head coach.
 
In addition to the on-field success, Pietramala coached seven CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 11 USILA Scholar All-Americans, 67 Academic All-Big Ten selections and seven Big Ten Distinguished Scholars.  Johns Hopkins' seven CoSIDA Academic All-Americans during Pietramala's 20 seasons at Homewood were tied for the most in the nation among Division I men's lacrosse programs during that time.
 
In addition to his time as the head coach at Homewood, Pietramala spent three seasons as the head coach at Cornell from 1998-2000, served as the Blue Jay defensive coordinator from 1995-97 and has held the same position at Syracuse (2022-24) and North Carolina (2025-present).  He began his coaching career at the Gilman School in 1990 with stops at Johns Hopkins (1991), Penn (1992-93) and Loyola (1994) before he took as the Blue Jay defensive coordinator in 1995.
