LANCASTER, PA – The Johns Hopkins women's soccer team earned seven of 11 first-place votes for a total of 97 points putting them atop the Centennial Conference Preseason Poll, it was announced today. JHU edged out conference tournament champions, Swarthmore for the top spot.
The Garnet picked up the remaining four first-place votes for a total of 92 points. McDaniel finished third with 78 points, 11 points ahead of Dickinson. Gettysburg rounded out the top-five, earning 66 points, just one point behind fourth-place Dickinson.
The Blue Jays went a perfect 10-0 in conference play last season, winning the regular season crown before falling to the Garnet in the conference tournament for the second year in-a-row. Hopkins earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the Second Round before falling to Misericordia in a 1-0 contest. JHU finished the season with an 18-3 record. Johns Hopkins has made the conference tournament every year since its inception.
Hopkins opens up the 2019 campaign on Saturday, August 31 as the Blue Jays will take on Lynchburg at 11:30 am in Roanoke, VA.
