th-ranked Johns Hopkins men's tennis team opened the spring season with an 8-1 win over 31
st-ranked Stevens at the Mary Washington Invitational.

How it Happened
Hopkins jumped out to a 3-0 lead by sweeping the doubles. Senior
Vik Vasan and junior
Vishnu Joshi grabbed the first point of the match with an 8-6 win over Keegan Morris and Philip Szkudlarski at second. Seniors
Joe Cartledge and
Austin Gu then beat Marc Feliu and Mark Kanevsky, 8-7 (5) at first. Freshmen
Alexander Kernagis and
Andrew Tran completed the sweep when they beat Eloi Pradier and Gabriel Sifuente, 8-2, at third.
Joshi cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Feliu at first singles to push Hopkins' lead to 4-0. Tran then secured the win with a 6-2, 6-3 defeat of Arjun Krishnan at fifth. Sophomore
Brian Wang picked up a 6-3, 6-1 at sixth over Sifuentes and the Blue Jays led 6-0.
Senior
Aaron Carey then defeated Kanevsky 6-4, 6-4 at fourth. Cartledge earned a 6-3, 6-7 (1), 1-0 (5) win at third over Szkudlarski to make it an 8-0 match. Morris grabbed a point for the Ducks when he beat Gu 7-6 (5), 6-3 at second.

• Today's match was the first-ever meeting between Hopkins and Stevens.
• Cartledge moves into a tie for 14
th in school history with his 51
st career doubles win. Gu is now tied for 17
th with 49 career doubles wins. In addition, Cartledge moves into 20
th with 77 total career wins.
