Hopkins jumped out to a 2- lead with wins at first and third doubles to take early control of the match. Seniors
Joe Cartledge and
Austin Gu grabbed the first point of the match when they beat Jordan Brewer and Hugh Graham, 8-2, at number one. Freshmen
Alexander Kernagie and
Andrew Tran followed with an 8-4 win over Noah Holsclaw and Hamza Khan at three. The Tigers prevented the doubles' sweep as Liam Baer and Alejandro Becker edged senior
Vik Vasan and junior
Vishnu Joshi, 8-6, at two.
Cartledge took the first singles point and pushed the Blue Jays' lead to 3-1 with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Ryan Olps at number three. Tran followed with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Matt Barnett at five. Senior
Aaron Carey then clinched the win at four as he defeated Holsclaw 6-2, 6-2.
Joshi gave Hopkins a 6-1 lead with a 6-3, 6-4 win at two over Andres Carro. Brewer grabbed a point for the Tigers as he won a tightly contested three-setter at one over Gu 6-7 (5), 7-6 (4), 1-0 (7). Sophomore
Brian Wang wrapped up the match when he beat Baer 6-4, 6-4 at six.

• Today's match was the first-ever meeting between the Blue Jays and the Tigers.
