How it Happened
Dickinson used a 13-0 run at the end of the first half to break open Thursday night's contest, earning a Centennial Conference win over Johns Hopkins. 12 different Red Devils scored in the victory.Â
Dickinson jumped out to a 10-2 lead after
Halle Maeda hit a triple at the 4:39 mark.
Maggie Wodicka and
Jess Sweeney both scored to cut it to 10-6, but
Hannah Heiring responded with a three-pointer, giving Dickinson a 13-6 lead after the first quarter.
Trailing 15-6, Hopkins went on a quick 7-0 run, getting four straight points from
Diarra Oden before
Emily Howie knocked down a three to cut it to 15-13. Johns Hopkins was held scoreless over the next 5:33, with
Kate Deutsch scoring six of the next 13 points for Dickinson as it ended the half on its big run.Â
In the third quarter, Dickinson hit threes on three straight possessions, building a 21-point lead with 6:50 to go in the period. With 2:01 to play in the third, freshman
Kara Milliken hit her first career three-pointer, cutting the Dickinson lead to 18.Â
The Red Devils led by as many as 28 in the final period, ultimately winning by 23. The Blue Jays offense picked up in the final period, scoring 20 points in the quarter, one of their top single quarter marks of the season.Â
