Fans to Select Johns Hopkins' Team of the Decade

BALTIMORE, MD - HopkinsSports.com and Johns Hopkins Athletics corporate partner Barnes & Noble launched Blue Jay Madness today.  The 32-team bracket, Blue Jay Madness Presented by Barnes & Noble, will provide Johns Hopkins fans with the opportunity to select JHU's Team of the Decade.

The Bracket
Johns Hopkins fields 24 varsity athletic programs and each team is represented at least once in the 32-team bracket.  For the purposes of evaluation, the men's & women's track teams were considered by year as one team (indoor & outdoor for each gender).  Differentiating between the indoor and outdoor teams in a given year wasn't deemed necessary as the rosters for each are largely the same.

There were 22 automatic bids awarded (each team/program receiving one) and 10 at-large selections.  Team/programs were limited to a maximum of three entries.

Clarifying Eligibility
With the loss of the 2020 spring season to COVID-19, team were selected based on the season of competition listed below.  In short, each team has 10 seasons evaluated during the selection process.

Fall Teams:  2010 through 2019
Winter Teams:  2010-11 through 2019-20
Spring Teams:  2010 through 2019

The Voting Process
All voting will take place on Twitter utilizing the main athletics account (@HopkinsSports).  Accomplishments for each team will be provided with one "game" taking place each day.  The 31-day tournament will conclude in July with the crowning of Johns Hopkins' Team of the Decade.  Voting for each matchup will be open for 24 hours.
