Emerson Sullivan and freshman
Kyle Pearson have been honored by the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) for their performances at the CWPA Division III Eastern Championship. Sullivan was named the MAWPC Offensive Player of the Week, while Pearson was honored as both the Rookie and Defensive Player of the Week.
Sullivan and Pearson led Hopkins to its 19
th CWPA Division III Eastern Championship this past weekend in New London, CT.
Sullivan totaled 16 goals, one assist, three ejections drawn, five steals and two blocks and was named the CWPA DIII Eastern MVP. Against Conn College in the opener, Sullivan scored five goals to go with an assist, two ejections drawn and two steals. He followed that with a season-high seven goals, one ejection drawn, one steal and one block in the win over Austin. In the championship game, Sullivan scored four goals, grabbed two steals and blocked a shot in the sudden-death win over MIT.
Pearson totaled 34 saves, five steals and two assists and was named to the CWPA DIII Eastern All-Tournament First Team. In the win over Conn College, he made 11 saves (with just five goals allowed), grabbed one steal and handed out two assists in the first half of action. Pearson followed that with 12 saves (eight goals allowed) and one steal in the win over ninth-ranked Austin. In the championship game, he posted 11 saves and three steals, while allowing 10 goals, in Hopkins' sudden-death victory over top-seeded MIT.
