The Short Story: Senior
Izzy Thompson scored a pair of goals to lead the  Johns Hopkins field hockey team to a 5-0 win at Washington College Wednesday night.

How it Happened
• Junior
Sadie Abboud opened the scoring just 3:42 into the game to stake Hopkins to the early lead. Senior
Maddie Brown-Scherer dribbled into the Shorewomen zone, drew the goalie out and the passed the ball across the circle to Abboud. She collected the pass, turned on her defender and slotted home the game-winner.
• Freshman
Liz Falterer passed the ball across the Washington College cage but it was broken up by a defender. Thompson corralled the loose ball and scored into the open net to give JHU a two-goal lead 3:08 into the second quarter. Just 82 seconds later, Thompson had her second goal of the night. Brown-Scherer fired a shot on the goal that was cleared away by a defender. Thompson collected the rebound, spun around and scored to push the Blue Jays' lead to 3-0.
• Freshman
Ava Balacek scored her first career goal midway through the third quarter to put Hopkins on top 4-0. She dribbled into the Shorewomen circle and drilled a shot from 10 yards out.
• Junior
Anna Scott then closed out the scoring with 10 minutes to play as the Blue Jays capitalized on a penalty corner. Abboud inserted the corner to Scott at the top of the circle. She took one touch and then banged a shot inside the left post.

What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 28-10 all-time against Washington College and has won nine straight in the series.
• It is the Blue Jays' 16
th consecutive win – breaking the school record of 15 – which occurred in 2000 and 2019. Â

Inside the Box Score
• Brown-Scherer's assist was her team-leading 10
th of the season. She is just the fifth player in program history with 10 goals and 10 assists in the same season. In addition, she is now tied for fifth in school history with 23 career assists.
• Thompson moved into a tie for 19
th with 22 career goals. Sophomore
Alexis Loder played the first half and did not face a shot on goal. Junior
Morgan Seward played the second half and made one save. Sasha Dennis made 13 saves in the loss for the Shorewomen.
• Hopkins outshot Washington College, 22-2, and had a 12-3 advantage in corners.

• Hopkins closes out the regular season on Saturday, October 30 against Bryn Mawr. The Centennial Conference contest is scheduled for a 5:00 pm start at Homewood Field.
