Hopkins Defeats F&M - Completes Unbeaten Centennial Season

The Basics
• Score: #2 Johns Hopkins-1, Franklin & Marshall-0
• Records: JHU (14-0-2, 10-0 CC) • F&M (11-3-2, 5-3-2 CC)
• Location: Baltimore, MD • Homewood Field
• The Short Story:  The second-ranked Johns Hopkins Blue Jays completed a perfect Centennial Conference season on Saturday afternoon, defeating Franklin & Marshall 1-0.

How it Happened
• 1st Half
Neither team was able to crack the code in the first 45 minutes, sending the game to the break with a 0-0 tie. Graduate forward Riley O'Toole forced the Diplomat keepers hand with a shot in the seventh minute, but Emily Senko made the first save of the contest. Centennial leading scorer Sierra Brophy nearly put the Diplomats on the board in the 9th minute, but found the crossbar and the game remained 0-0. The Blue Jays put shots on net in the 22nd and 24th minutes, but O'Toole and Callie Jones' shot attempts were snuffed out by Senko. Neither team registered a shot on goal over the final 20 minutes of the half.

• 2nd Half

• In the 50th minute, the Blue Jays struck. As we've seen so many times this season (10 to be exact), it was Katie Sullivan who put the ball in the net for Hopkins. A deflected cross from the far side of the field ended up on the feet of Juliana Taxter. She played a soft touch to Sullivan who turned and clipped it top right for a 1-0 Blue Jay lead.

• Despite a few chances in the first half, the Diplomats didn't force a save from Caitlin Hendricks, but she made her first of the contest in the 52nd minute. Meg O'Callahan put a shot on target, but Hendricks snuffed it out. In the 54th, O'Toole put another shot on net, but Senko made another save. Moments later, Rachel Jackson's header found the crossbar, keeping the game 1-0. Senko made another save of an O'Toole shot attempt in the 57th.

• Hendricks was called upon in the 70th to make her second save of the contest as Brophy got a clean look, but Hendricks kept the clean sheet going. In the 80th, Hendricks made her third save, this time on a shot from Alison Francis. The senior keeper's fourth and final save of the contest came in the 84th minute on a shot from Dahlia Pepe. The Blue Jays were looking for insurance late, but Senko made back-to-back saves in the 85th off shots from Sullivan and Lilah Isenberg.

What it Means
• The Blue Jays had already clinched a share of the regular season Centennial Conference championship, but a win left them alone atop the table with an undefeated season.

• This is the sixth time in program history that Johns Hopkins has gone 10-0 in the Centennial Conference season.

Inside the Box Score
• With her 10th goal of the year, Sullivan has totaled 23 points in 16 games this season. That is good for eighth all-time by a Blue Jay freshman. Sullivan is also the ninth Blue Jay freshman to score 10 goals in a season.

• With the victory today, Caitlin Hendricks is tied for 4th in program history with 32 career wins.

 Up Next
• Johns Hopkins will host the Centennial Conference Championships, playing in the semifinal on Friday night.
