LANCASTER, PA– For the second consecutive week, Johns Hopkins defensive back
Nick Seidel has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week after he led the Blue Jay defense in a 37-17 win over Dickinson on Saturday. This is the fourth time this season Johns Hopkins has produced the CC's Defensive Player of the Week.
Â
Seidel posted five tackles and had a hand in three of the five turnovers the Blue Jays forced in the victory. He posted two interceptions – his first two of the season – recovered a fumble and added a pass breakup; his fumble recovery led to a late second quarter touchdown that gave the Blue Jays a 27-3 lead at the half.
Â
Despite missing three full games, Seidel ranks fourth on the team in tackles (37), second in pass breakups (4) and third in interceptions. He helps lead a Blue Jay unit that leads the Centennial Conference in scoring defense (12.2) and total defense (255.1).
Â
Johns Hopkins (8-1, 7-1 Centennial) will close the regular season on Saturday, November 13 when the Blue Jays travel to McDaniel (2-7, 2-6 CC) to take on the Green Terror. A victory would assure the Blue Jays of no worse than a share of the Centennial Conference title; the title would be the record 15
th for the Blue jays, all of which have come since 2002.
